The Eagle Has Landed! We're delighted to have your interest in renting our house. We put together this site to provide you with more information about it, to help you make the best decision for yourself and your family. Lake Raponda has a new resident - a young bald eagle! It goes fishing each morning not long after sunrise - here's a picture I took on 8/7/2006: If you're thinking about spending some time away from the city this summer or fall, come stay on Lake Raponda, named part of one of Vermont Life Magazine's "Best Fall Color Drives." Click below for pictures and more details... More about the house... Screened Porch With 1000 square feet and sleeping room for six, the porch is like a second house in itself. Last-Minute Specials We have a few weeks left available for summer 2008. Rentals pay the mortgage, so we'd like to fill them. From now until 7/12 we'll take 25% off, so a $1,900 week would be $1,425 , and August weeks are 15% off normal rates - $1,615 instead of $1,900. We were quite flattered to get this picture from some early fall guests, who loved the house:
The Surroundings... Lake Raponda is extraordinary! Large enough for a good water-ski run, it's small enough to avoid the crush of big boats from cityfolk, who put in at the Harriman Reservoir (aka Lake Whitingham) instead. The lake has about 40 houses on it; a busy summer weekend might find two ski boats out, with a handful of sunfish, canoes, rowboats, sculls, kayaks, and so forth. Here's a picture of one of the docks More about the lake...
Our house is situated on seven acres comprising the northwest corner of the lake.
We have 490 feet of shoreline; our property abuts undeveloped state land on one side and is separated
by a 50 foot thicket from the next house on the lake. Two streams meet on our property; here's a picture of one of our waterfalls:
In southern Vermont, you'll find an endless variety of stuff to do; skiing, golf, hiking, mountain-biking, etc.
That is, if you can tear yourself away from the lake (I rarely can). Click for more.
